North Cove Sailing University

Beginner to advanced sailing courses offered in Manhattan and the Caribbean

July 25, 2017 New York — North Cove Sailing has officially launched North Cove Sailing University – a comprehensive and progressive sailing curriculum for beginner to professional sailors. North Cove Sailing University (NCSU) offers both US Sailing courses and exclusive NCSU courses designed by sailing professionals to satisfy the educational needs of all sailors.

The University curriculum is broken up into 4 Core levels: Basic Sailing 100, Racing 200, Cruising 300 and Ocean 400. Sailing 100-Level is the foundation for all sailing courses, covering basics of sailing then moving into performance and spinnaker focuses. Sailors then choose their track and passion whether to continue to learn to race or move onto bigger boats and more miles in the school’s cruising and ocean courses.

“Being a sailor means something different for everybody. Some want to be cruisers, some want to race, some want a little bit of both. Whether you want to sail casually around Manhattan or one day the world, our mission is to provide all sailors with the education they need to safely and confidently achieve their sailing goals,” said Meg Reilly, Director of North Cove Sailing.

The launch of North Cove Sailing University has extended the school’s offering beyond NYC and the current fleet of Colgate 26s to get sailors out in the Atlantic on a Pogo 12.50 racing/cruiser. In partnership with Ocean Racers, an international sailing team, North Cove Sailing is now offering year-round sailing opportunities inshore and offshore, based out of NYC in the Summer and the Caribbean in the Winter.

North Cove Sailing is headquartered at North Cove Marina at Brookfield Place in Battery Park City. This sailing school, club and community center offers adult sailing courses, kids STEM sailing programs, club racing and cruising as well as group events. Community is the foundation of this sailing center, with the mission to provide the best value and access to sailing on the Hudson and beyond.
